March was a great success for us. Our classes, concerts and special events went well and, for the most part, were well attended. Our new ventures were "artistic successes" and we hope to boost attendance as the word gets out on how good they were.
Again, I will start with the class schedules as I have found that people actually look here for what to do or when time is available for their own class. Keep in mind that we also rent for parties and other closed events so the schedule is not absolute. Call me if you want to be sure about an open time. (802-233-3144).

MOUNTAINS

Mountains is Brendon Anderegg and Koen Holtkamp, friends since their
middle school days. The duo were brought together by mutual artistic and
musical interests, and both ended up at the School of the Art Institute of
Chicago. It was during this time that they began exchanging musical ideas and
compositions which led to them founding the Apestaartje label in 1999. As
their collaborations and individual projects blossomed, they decided to create
Mountains as a vehicle for live performance. A love of sculpting sound in front
of an audience is at the heart of Mountains. The group’s third album, Choral,
(their first self-titled release and second album Sewn were both on
Apestaartje), is the culmination of their work to date and a balanced mix of the
first two efforts. Mountains is often compared to artists such as Brian Eno and
Fennesz citing their extended melodies and their unique broad guitar work.
Mountains seamlessly blend pastoral electronic sounds with both field
recordings and a plethora of acoustic instruments. The resulting soundscapes
are broad in scope and rich in detail. The effect is incredibly sublime and
hypnotic as the sounds slowly wrap themselves around each other and alter
themselves in the mind of the listener. Choral is a uniquely soothing and
addicting listening experience and an aural crazy quilt: warm and inviting with
many details to discover and explore.
SUN CIRCLE

SUN CIRCLE is the duo of Greg Davis and Zach Wallace. Psychoacoustic
minimalism meets psychedelic maximalism. Ecstatic high volume drones, long
form trance musics and peace noise. Bowed strings, voices, organs,
percussion, home-made and world instruments. Greg Davis lives in Burlington,
Vermont. He has played shows all over the world with many different people
and has released solo and collaborative albums on many different labels,
including Carpark Records and Kranky. Zach Wallace lives in Swan Valley,
Montana. He performs solo, with Memorize the Sky and SUN CIRCLE and
has played with people ranging from Tony Conrad to Anthony Braxton.

Performers this time are:
Nuda Veritas (Rebecca Kopycinski)
The composer Ned Rorem said, “I compose what I need to hear because nobody else is doing it.” This is very true for Rebecca Kopycinski, aka Nuda Veritas. Part folk, part classical, part experimental, Rebecca seeks to manifest aurally the bittersweet beauty of being human that oftentimes cannot be defined with words alone. The performance ranges from simple songs to epic ones to self-harmonized folk tune arrangements to multi-layered loops featuring bells, violins, guitar, spoken word tapes, and music boxes to a single vocal melody sung over drone (and whatever else she can dream up). This versatility allows Nuda Veritas to adapt to various performance opportunities, sometimes playing complete acoustic sets, other times playing quite a bit of improvised organic electronics, and sometimes a balance of the two.
In 2008, Rebecca was signed to the Aether Everywhere label and has recently released her debut recordings: Songs for Doing Dishes and Still Lives. The limited run of 123 handmade pieces constructed of recycled LP sleeves are available by contacting Rebecca directly nudaveritasmusic(at)gmail(dot)com. See some examples below (these may or may not still be available).
About Nuda Veritas
"The title [Nuda Veritas], therefore, aptly fits up and coming electro-acoustic composer/performing artist/singer songwriter Rebecca Kopycinski out of Burlington, whose haunting yet stunningly beautiful vocals and minimalist approach to music force the listener into hearing pure sound: plain and simple. The experience of listening to music can be, under certain circumstances of course, truly transcendent to some; Nuda Veritas attempts to achieve the same transcendence through her music, and surely succeeds. She uses an array of instruments, most notably her voice, looped creatively and methodically to create a sound distinguishable among many." - Pat See, The Deli Magazine
