Wow, now I have to do two blog listings a month as events solidify after I do the initial blog. That's o.k. It means that more people are getting things together a little later but at least their doing something! How about you? Are you thinking of presenting a class, or concert or know someone who is looking for a space to present something? What about a party or other private gathering. I have had people rent space just to get friends together around a common topic like picture/memory review from a trip or works in progress by dancers or musicians or just to get together in a place larger than their living room (so they won't bother the neighbors). Think about it and give me a call. 802-863-6713.

Rick Nestler
Dom Pirone of the Hudson River Fishermen calls him,"a real Hudson River Troubadour". Joe Franklin of WOR-TV calls him,"the Hudson River Balladeer". Pete Seeger calls Rick, "the Terror of the River, raffish Rick Nestler".
A Coast Guard licensed Master, with a 100 ton ticket, an actor, a singer and a songwriter, Rick can truly bring the songs of the sailor (both traditional and contemporary) to life. He has learned the arts of the chantyman working aboard large traditionally rigged vessels such as the sloop Clearwater, the
schooner Voyager and the square rigged ship HMAV Bounty. Presently, Rick is the captain of the schooner Argia, sailing out of Mystic Ct.
He has appeared at folk festivals and coffeehouses throughout the Northeast as well as Mystic Seaport and South Street Seaport Museums.
Lastly, he has learned some of his most effective performance techniques playing in low waterfront dives and institutions of higher learning from St. Thomas to Toronto, California to New York and everywhere in between.
Rick has one album to his credit called, "Spending My Days". One song from that album, "The River That Flows Both Ways", has been recorded by both Joe Heukerott and Pete Seeger while another tune,"Bar Song² was recently recorded by an old friend, Ray Chesna. Rick is now working on a new album of maritime music. All in all, Rick Nestler is a talented man and a fine addition to any program. Visit his website at http://www.ricknestler.com

Rik Palieri
How many performers do you know who are as at ease singing tunes by Bluesmen Leadbelly and Son House as they are at telling a folk tale to children before leading them through a traditional Polish folk song and dance?
It is no small feat to be able to do so many things so well. But through his long and varied experiences as a performer, Palieri gracefully segues from original tunes on guitar to old traditional "Americana" folk songs on banjo, to intricate, involved ballads from the mountains of Poland on the rare and exotic Polish bagpipes.
His original songs have been praised by folk legends like Pete Seeger, U. Utah Phillips and Jimmy Driftwood. His music has taken him on road trips through every state in the continental US as well as Australia, Germany, Poland, Scotland, France, and Spain. Rik Palieri has appeared on TV, both in
the USA and overseas, countless radio stations around the globe, and at numerous folk festivals, such as The Vancouver Folk Festival, The Philadelphia Folk Festival and The Champlain Valley Folk Festival. He has won numerous grants including those from Poland's Kosciuzko Foundation, the Vermont Council on the Arts, National School Assemblies & Dakota School Assemblies, meet the Composer Grant and first place in the South Texas Banjo Contest.
