Tuesdays 5:00pm - 6:00pm (Beginning October 19th)
Joseph’s community Kripalu classes are held in a judgment free studio. The instructor’s intention, set before starting each class, is to allow all students to grow at their own rate, regardless of any obstacle. Classes are open to all levels. Classes purchased in a four consecutive week series are reduced to $8 per class. Drop in spaces are available to students at $10 per class.
What is Kripalu Yoga? Kripalu Yoga is an inquiry-based yoga methodology that promotes the awakening of the life force (prana). Using classic asanas, pranayama, meditation, and relaxation techniques, Kripalu Yoga increases awareness of body, breath, and mind and encourages natural alignment. Off the mat, this inquiry-based approach to life also encourages natural alignment and increased awareness-of our thoughts, words, feelings, and actions. In this way, Kripalu Yoga is the inquiry of optimal living, emphasizing the mechanics of yoga (proper breath and alignment) as well as the inner, spiritual dimensions of yoga practice. Students are encouraged to honor the wisdom of the body and to work according to its limits and strengths. The primary objective of Kripalu Yoga is to awaken the natural intelligence of the life-force (the flow of prana) in order to promote thriving in all aspects of life. Because of its approach, Kripalu Yoga is compatible with all other styles and traditions of yoga practice.
Cost of four consecutive week series is $32 or $10 for drop in students.

Bio - Joseph Fiacco
It seems most often that life’s main questions are who am I and what am I doing here? I wanted to share with you what I have learned so far. I am spirit temporarily disguised as human, here to remember and share who I am, to love and learn as much as possible. Yoga reminds me who I truly am, allowing life to have clarity and grace. Yoga is in everything; it is in food, relationships, prayer, and even in the worst day of the week. I am a native New Yorker, having moved to Burlington in 1997, in order to attend UVM and have lived here ever since. I received a Bachelors of Science in Civil & Environmental Engineering and a minor in French. I left the desk behind for carpentry in my later twenties, reconnecting mind and body after lots of sitting and thinking. In the fall of 2009, I decided to further my mind and body integration by becoming a full time yoga instructor, receiving a 200-hour Kripalu teaching certification. Other related movement healing arts training includes a current 690-hour Swedish massage therapy training and 10 years (1st degree black belt instructor) of Moo Gong Do martial arts; a traditional Korean self-defense based martial art. I took yoga for the first time in 2000 while spending a semester abroad in southern France. I had no idea then, but have since begun to understand yoga’s pertinence in my life as I learn how to train more consistently.
