Capoeira (12/8 – 12/15)
A great way to meet people and to break a sweat! Guys and girls welcome! No experience necessary.
About Capoeira: As a Brazilian landowners saw many of their slaves dying of ‘banzo’, or boredom and sadness, they allowed them to practice their religion twice a month. The slaves created a martial art, disguising it as a dance. Today, capoeira is known for combining strong and fluid movements with dynamic use of space, rhythm, and a spirit of ‘trickiness’. This athletic form is playful, done to music and highly interactive.

December Artist
Frances Cannon
Local Burlington printmaker and illustrator Frances Cannon will be showing her black & white drawings and prints for the month of December.
“I adore the visual art of the past, and resist the efficiency and diluted quality of this digital age. I admire the unwavering dedication to technique that my teachers have, instructing the methods of old masters rather than the haphazard spontaneity of the modern age. Although I have sampled many forms of art, including painting, mixed media, bookmaking, woodcut printmaking, papermaking, woodworking, and metallurgy, I prefer the bold, black and white patterns of wood and linoleum carvings and ink paintings.”
